Covent Garden & Finchley Covid-19

I am pleased to say we will be opening our clinic again from the 27th July, but with limited availability to begin with. We hope that this will change over the coming weeks and/or months as the country’s R number begins to fall, and the chances of catching Covid-19 whilst out in public reduce. The following page is designed to give you some information on how procedures in clinic have changed to ensure patient safety and also explain how we can help you in your recovery from Covid-19 if you have previously contracted it.

Is it safe to come in to see you?

The honest answer to this that just like going to the shops, coming in to see us will carry a degree of risk. This is why we ask that if you are being asked to shield due to either being a carer of someone who is in the high risk category, or are a high risk category yourself that you consider booking in for an online consultation instead. We will be able to provide you with a working diagnosis and give you an exercise plan to help you with your pain and discomfort. This has proved to be successful during the lockdown period and it’s a service we will continue to provide even as lockdown is lifted.

You will have received a letter from your GP if you are in the high risk category, however if you are unsure and would like to check you can find out more here.

To book a video consultation or to just have a chat and find out more you can do so here under the Osteopathy heading.

For those that do not fall into this category and would like to come in for an appointment, then we want to make you aware that we are following strict hygiene and PPE protocols.

What are your hygiene and PPE protocols?

As one of the clinical care workers who is part of the NHS Track & Trace programme, I am up to date with all hygiene & PPE protocols that need to be in place in order for a clinic to safely carry out treatments. I will also be following all the guidelines set up for all primary healthcare practitioners. These include:

Hygiene:

  • High alcohol content anti-bacterial sanitisers being available throughout the treatment areas.
  • Minimising and wiping down all surfaces that patients frequently come into contact with.
  • Wipeable couch covers and pillow cases.

PPE :

  • Masks will be worn by myself and other therapists in all treatment rooms.
  • Depending on the treatment needs of the patient, we will either be wearing disposable gloves during our treatment, or washing both our hands and our forearms between all patients with high alcohol content anti-bacterial gels.
  • Glasses will be worn by myself unless under exceptional circumstances

Infection control:

  • Airing out rooms in-between patient visits
  • Spacing out treatment times in order to prevent an increase in viral load

We’ve also changed our operating procedures in regards to payments. We are now asking all new patients to pay online prior to their appointment. This is to minimise the amount of contact on payment devices to as little possible. If you have Apple Pay or something similar this can be used when booking follow up appointments at the end of your session.

Can you help treat Covid-19?

Osteopaths are primary health care practitioners and we are able to help patient’s with a wide range of ailments. Our principles revolve around the fact that our bodies have an innate ability to heal themselves from the majority of what life can throw at it. We do not tend to treat conditions themselves, but rather help the body create the right condition to allow it to heal itself. Whilst it’s important to understand that no osteopath can cure Covid-19, what we can do through a mixture of treatment, exercise, rehabilitation and advice is help your body create the right environment to give it the best possible chance of fighting the disease. In the case of Covid-19 we may give you exercises that will improve lung, rib and diaphragm functioning, advice on how to recover, etc. Each exercise will be tailored to you as an individual. If you would like to find out more I recommend booking one of our free 15 minute consultations. You can do so here.
